The Tails of Glory have been extremely lucky to have a small army of dedicated volunteers helping us on parade day each year. These are friends and partners who perform all the heavy lifting throughout the day-- including carrying our banner, pushing our float, acting as extras in our skits, taking our photos, building our bar carts. operating the sound system, handing out bribes to judges and candy to the crowds, spraying us down with water, and countless other thankless tasks. It's our pit crew, our caretakers, sometimes our children, and even one year a couple of guys we picked up on the boardwalk. Many bait move on to become full fledged mermaids after putting in their time behind the scenes.
Whether they are with us for one parade or EVERY parade, we are indebted to them for their devotion and support! We love you and couldn't do what we do without you!!!
We used to call these volunteers Jailbait, but over the years recognized the inappropriateness of this term (especially since many of us became moms), so now they are just called Bait. We're evolving.
